About Studio Nicholson
Studio Nicholson's designer Nick Wakeman is inspired by the assured and classic style of the sartorial European man's wardrobe. Studio Nicholson seizes that man's dress and creates a confident, effortless and unadorned wardrobe for women who require a practical yet classy uniform.
“I have always coveted Men's tailoring,” says Nick, “in fact men's wear in general – I own and wear a lot of men's shirts and jackets. The detailing in men's wear is so much more considered, from the simplicity of the fabric being allowed to do the talking to the taping on internals. As a rule I have a much stronger emotional response to men's wear than women's wear.”
Nick has applied these same design principals where comfort and make is crucial. Each piece is a straightforward boyish cut intensely developed in fit for women without losing any of the authentic roots in men's wear. Necklines fall to reveal more, armholes are dropped to give a more modern silhouette and trousers are kept sleek, but not skinny and are often rounded with a nod to Japanese denim. ‘Character’ Italian cloth is selected where texture is an essential aspect to an otherwise stripped back collection.
Studio Nicholson's signature identity is of understated androgynous luxury. Studio Nicholson is a very cool and genuine brand that delivers a highly desirable wardrobe - one that women will want to wear and talk about.
